Awesome Stuffed Shells
Here's a recipe for stuffed shells that I came up with myself. It's easy to make and the whole family loves it! Prep time: about twenty to thirty minutes Cooking time: about an hour Makes about eight servings Ingredients needed: 1 bag stuffed shells (usually 8 shells) 2 jars of your favorite pasta sauce 1 package mild Italian sausage (ground, not links) 1 8 oz package of shredded mozzarella cheese 1 onion 2 squash (I like to get one green, one yellow) First, preheat your oven (following the instructions on the stuffed shells package). Now, you'll need to cook the sausage in a skillet. Once again, follow the instructions on the package. Slice the squash into half inch thick disks. Cut the onion into quarters, then cut those in half. You should end up with chunks of onion. Get a good sized casserole dish and spray it with non stick spray or coat it with butter. Pour one jar of pasta sauce in the tray, covering the bottom evenly. Put the shells in the tray with the open side facing up, in two symmetrical rows. Drop the vegetables and fully cooked sausage in evenly. Add a layer of cheese. You may want to save a bit of the cheese to put on the top after the dish is cooked, but that's up to you. Pour the remaining jar of pasta sauce over the top. Try to get everything covered. You may want to add a little water to both "empty" jars to get out all of the sauce. Cover the entire dish with tin foil and put it into the oven. Cook according to the instructions on the stuffed shells package. If you're going to put cheese on top, do it about ten minutes before the dish is done. In about an hour you should have a delicious dish of stuffed shells. |
